The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee

The DSCC is currently taking applications for its Spring Internship Program. If you are interested in applying for the Spring Program, please submit your application.

The DSCC is an organization whose goal is to elect Democratic Senators. They work towards this goal by providing Democratic Senate candidates with financial and political support throughout the two year election cycle. The ultimate aim of the DSCC is to advance the Democratic message and to guarantee that Democrats are elected to public office.

They are a busy staff and rely on their interns (thank you!). You will be asked to and will take on many important responsibilities. Your assignments will allow you to become familiar with the basics of fundraising and political work, but you will also be assigned to advanced, long-term projects. This is a great experience that will help you get a job after college-maybe work on a Senate campaign! You will meet Democratic Senators and candidates from across the county and have the opportunity to work on a competitive election cycle on a national scale.

Tasks that you will be asked to do:

• Help Manage the Front Desk/Route Calls/Direct Senators and Finance Directors to Call Rooms
• Manage Excel Spreadsheets and List-Building Projects for Finance and Political Departments
• Use Online and DSCC-Subscribed Search Engines for Finance Development
• Write Summary Reports on Legislative Votes, Recent Election Data, and Various Other Issues for their Political Department
• Make Deliveries to Senate and Campaign Offices
• Help Manage and Update the DSCC Websites
• Assist Staff With Response Letters for Constituent Inquiries
• Stuff and Route Mailings for Fundraising Events
• Assist Staff at Various Fundraisers/DC Events (many times evenings and early morning events)
• Other Duties as Assigned

The DSCC is a busy office with the staff focused on winning elections, so we need their interns to be self-motivated! They are seeking reliable people who are organized, have an interest in politics, who think ahead on how they can help staff and the DSCC, and most importantly, who are willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done well.

We need people who are ready to work. This is not an all-glamorous position. There is a lot of grunt work involved-yes, at times they do become envelope stuffers! But whatever the task, know that it is ESSENTIAL to have this help. This is an internship where you will learn from your surroundings. It is a fast paced office, and your daily tasks will change regularly. Our Senators need people who are ready and willing to step up to the challenge and help the DSCC because they believe in the cause. The program does not provide a stipend, but interns may obtain college credit. Metro passes are provided. If you are interested in applying for this program or would like more details, please contact Megan Mielnik at the address below. Or if you are interested in interning in our New York Finance Office please email your resume to Brad Thompson at the email address below.
