Population Connection

Population Connection, once known as Zero Population Growth, is a national grassroots population organization that educates young people and advocates progressive action to stabilize world population at a level that can be sustained by Earth’s resources. Population Connection offers the following internships and fellowships:

Population Connection Unpaid Internships
Population Connection may occasionally offer full- or part-time internships for periods less than six months in Washington, D.C. for college graduates, graduate students, and undergraduates with a special interest in population issues. Internships are unpaid and may be available in the following departments. Contact Population Connection for more information.

  • Field and Outreach: Organizing and assisting Population Connection members, chapters and activists to work to educate the public and influence public policy. Writing activist materials; coordinating exhibits, speaking engagements and special events; networking and coalition building; managing national speakers network, volunteer and intern programs.
    Government Relations: Influencing national public policy. Monitoring legislation; researching and writing policy papers, testimony, articles and reports; networking and coalition building; assisting local activists to influence public policy on the state and local levels.
  • Media/Communications: Researching, writing and production of the bi-monthly Population Connection Reporter, fact sheets, special reports and other publications; assisting with media campaigns and specific events and projects; marketing Population Connection publications and merchandise; assisting activists to effectively influence the media.
    Population Education: Promoting population education in schools (grades K-12) and through museums, zoos and other institutions. Researching teaching resources and education policies; developing and marketing teaching materials and quarterly educators.

Population Connection Paid Fellowships 2007-2008

*Note: Applications for January (2007) session are due October 15, 2006 and for July (2007) session by April 21, 2007.
Population Connection offers fellowships in Washington, D.C. for college graduates, graduate students, and undergraduates with a special interest in population issues. Each fellow has a responsible role working with a specific department and becomes an essential part of that department.
